Dr Sean Carmody is an experienced leader in risk management and regulation in the financial sector. Until recently he led the development of prudential policy for the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) across banking, insurance and superannuation. He also had responsibility for APRA’s resolution and enforcement functions. Sean has over 20 years experience across banking, financial markets and funds management. Prior to joining APRA in 2017 he had worked across a variety of risk management roles, including credit and market risk, working across banking and funds management. Climate risk has been a major focus for Sean and he represented APRA in a number of international regulatory forums including the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS). Sean also co-chaired of the NGFS’s Task Force on Adaptation. His qualifications include a PhD in Pure Mathematics from St John's College, Cambridge.
