Jamal Waqar is Head of Research, Experience, Data and Analytics at Standards Australia, where he leads multidisciplinary teams delivering insights that inform policy, industry, and regulatory decision making. He specialises in data governance, AI strategy, and standards that enable safe, trusted, and interoperable systems across complex organisational environments. Jamal’s work focuses on risk, resilience, and governance of emerging technologies, including data centric AI, critical infrastructure, and environmental data. He translates complex technical and regulatory challenges into practical frameworks that strengthen enterprise risk management, support assurance, and enable informed decision making. He actively collaborates with government, industry, and international bodies to advance responsible AI adoption, strengthen regulatory alignment, and build resilient, data driven organisations.
