Chantal Mousad is a senior risk and governance leader at Westpac, where she leads Business Control & Monitoring across customer and corporate services. With a career spanning banking systems across the Middle East and Australia, she brings deep expertise in risk, regulatory compliance, and risk culture transformation.
Beginning her career in Middle East and progressing to Chief Risk Officer at a commercial bank, Chantal has led risk functions in complex and high-uncertainty environments. Since resettling in Australia, she has held key roles focused on strengthening control frameworks, improving decision quality, and embedding sustainable risk practices within large financial institutions.
Chantal is particularly passionate about the intersection of risk, inclusion, and governance. She advocates that diversity is not only a social imperative but a critical lever for reducing model risk, strengthening challenge, and improving organisational decision-making. Her work increasingly explores emerging areas such as AI governance, operational resilience, and vulnerability strategy.
Beyond her executive role, Chantal Chair for MBAUS and also serves as a Board Director at CareerSeekers, where she contributes to expanding economic opportunities for refugees and driving impact measurement. She is also Director of Oceania at the Global Resources Advisory Board (GRAB), supporting purpose-driven organisations globally.
A recipient of the UN Women Australia MBA Scholarship and the Super Naari Award for her contribution to the Women, Peace & Security agenda, Chantal brings a powerful lived experience of resilience, leadership, and systems navigation. She is a sought-after speaker on risk governance, diversity in decision-making, and building inclusive, future-ready institutions.
